A child explains with crushing simplicity to the men in suits what climate change means and what to do.
21 metre Carbon emissions real-time counter in New York

Kofi Annan Report see News List “Climate change is already responsible for 300,000 deaths a year and is affecting 300m people, according to the first comprehensive study of the human impact of global warming. It projects that increasingly severe heatwaves, floods, storms and forest fires will be responsible for as many as 500,000 deaths a year by 2030, making it the greatest humanitarian challenge the world faces.”
MAJOR NEWS Six years ago, the climate change prediction from MIT’s powerful computers was that if we carry on emissions as we are at present the global temperature rise by 2100 would be around 2.4C. Now MIT has revised its assumptions and made a new prediction that raises that global temperature prediction to 5.2C by 2100.
This is due for publication in the Journal of Climate in a few days - a link to the full Report is in Documents.
The 90% prediction gives a range of range of 3.5 to 7.4 degrees. Most climate scientists estimate that a global temperature rise of 2C wouold be a serious danger. See the posts in the News List.
Could this be a strong enough wake up call. It certainly justifies what James Hansen and others have been saying for many years. Pearce in a recent New Scientist has a major article summarizing the rapid acceleration of emissions because of tipping points. James Hansen and now Kevin Anderson have also warned that we are probably very close to the tipping point where the trillions of tonnes of earth’s stored carbon are released in an unstoppable feedback loop.
